Tucked into the desert mesas northwest of Vernal, the Halfway Hollow Trail System is a multi-use network open to mountain bikers and hikers. With a mix of flowy singletrack, technical climbs, and expansive views, it’s a favorite for locals seeking a quieter, more rugged experience. Trail Details: Racetrack • Distance: 4.5 mi | Difficulty: Beginner | Direction: Recommended counterclockwise* • Fast, flowy singletrack. Popular with hikers. Two steep wash crossings that may challenge beginners. Corkscrew • Distance: 9.6 mi | Difficulty: Intermediate | Direction: Recommended clockwise* • Gradual climb with the occasional steep sections leads to a flowy descent with tight turns. Skull Valley • Distance: 6.4 mi | Difficulty: Intermediate | Direction: Recommended counterclockwise* • Long but mostly gradual climb leads to a scenic mesa. Wind around the mesa before descending quickly onto Racetrack. Ride racetrack back to the trailhead. Full Monty • Distance: 2 mi | Difficulty: Intermediate | Direction: counter-clockwise • Extension of Racetrack featuring a ridge-line descent.
